We recently joined the Equity Mates podcast to discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming our investment process at Minotaur Capital, our Australian-based global equities fund. As co-founder and portfolio manager, Armina Rosenberg explained how we leverage AI at every step of fundamental analysis, from idea generation through to thesis validation, whilst maintaining our core investment philosophy of identifying companies where the market misprices their three-to-five-year outlook.
Our proprietary AI software, Taurient, processes 30,000-35,000 articles weekly from 174 sources, systematically identifying companies undergoing structural strategy changes. What previously took analysts five days now takes minutes, though we emphasise that AI functions as an investment analyst supporting our decision-making rather than replacing human judgement. As Armina noted during the discussion:
"We treat it like an investment analyst. So as the PM, you were kind of looking, I guess, later stage at it."
We discussed our diversified portfolio management approach, our track record of approximately 19% per annum returns, and specific investment opportunities including Chinese EV manufacturer LeapMotor and Japanese VTuber talent agency Cover Corporation. The conversation also explored the SaaSapocalypse debate and which software companies possess defensibility against AI disruption. To listen to the episode, click the link below.
