We recently appeared on the SBS On the Money podcast to discuss how our global equities fund is navigating heightened market volatility, geopolitical risk, and the ongoing rotation across sectors. With oil surging above $100 per barrel and energy stocks up nearly 30% year-to-date while software names have sold off sharply, we explained how dispersion is creating significant opportunities for active managers.
Our fund manager Armina Rosenberg discussed how we're using our proprietary AI system, Taurient, to accelerate fundamental equity research and portfolio management decisions during geopolitical shocks. As Armina explained:
AI helped us do the mechanical work faster, but the judgement still sits with us. It interprets geopolitical risk less as a prophecy and more as a set of scenarios.
We've repositioned our portfolio towards quality names with strong cash generation, selectively added energy exposure where barrels don't transit through the Strait of Hormuz, and identified opportunities in memory semiconductors, European defence, and Chinese EV manufacturers. Our approach combines AI-driven research with human judgement to identify idiosyncratic opportunities across global equities markets. We emphasised the importance of diversification and staying active during periods of elevated volatility, allowing investors to benefit from dispersion rather than being paralysed by it.
