How the experts use AI to maximise returns – and what steps you can take

We are proud to share that we were recently featured in Livewire's comprehensive analysis of how professional fund managers are leveraging AI to enhance investment returns. As outlined in the article, we've developed sophisticated AI-powered systems to identify mispriced opportunities in global markets.

Our Co-founder and Portfolio Manager, Thomas Rice, explained our approach to AI in investment management:

"AI is a powerful tool that can enhance what you do, but the investor still needs to decide what creates outperformance, what their edge is, and how markets work. That entire investment philosophy remains crucial," he explained.

We've built Taurient, our proprietary AI system that processes 35,000 articles weekly through "idea pipelines" designed to identify strategic shifts and market opportunities. This technology has helped us uncover significant positions, including Chugai Pharmaceutical, after our system flagged a Japanese-language article about their GLP-1 obesity treatment pipeline.

Rice emphasised that our AI capabilities focus on qualitative signals rather than current metrics:

"We're looking for qualitative signals that might indicate future value creation, rather than just filtering on current metrics," he said.

Our approach demonstrates how Australian fund managers can successfully integrate AI technology while maintaining rigorous fundamental analysis. The article highlights our commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with proven investment philosophy, showing that great investment returns still come from differentiated insight – AI just helps surface and validate those insights more efficiently.
